Floating koi under the ice

The last few mornings, a few of my Koi have been floating directly under the ice.  By afternoon, they start slowly moving around just like nothing is wrong.

I do have a heater donut to keep a hole open in the ice.

Does anyone know if this is normal?  In past years, I've never seen this.
