Koi Names

Tancho: A single red crown-like marking in the center of the head.
Ohmoyo: Any single, large, unbroken pattern extending from head to tail.
Nidan: A two step pattern
Sandan: Three step pattern
Yondan: Four step pattern
Godan: Five step pattern
Kuchibeni: Literally "lipstick," indicates red (beni) on the mouth.
Kohaku: White with red pattern
Sanke: White with red (Kohaku) pattern and black(sumi) markings. Usually no black on head.
Showa: White & red markings against a black base. All three colors on the face.
